Guo Pei Barbie Blue Gown

Created in collaboration with the renowned Chinese couturier Guo Pei.
“The inspiration for this year’s Guo Pei Lunar New Year Doll comes from a design in one of Guo Pei’s past collections, which we’ve scaled down to fit Barbie,” says doll designer Joyce Chen, who’s worked on all our doll collaborations with Guo Pei. “It’s in a traditional Chinese royal blue color, with colorful embroidered details featuring golden dragons that represent good fortune and strength.”

Barbies outfit also inspired the fantastic doll box. “Guo Pei’s bold but detail-oriented designs include mythological elements, such as dragons and clouds, which made me think of a modern and more fun celebration,” says packaging designer Laydiana Chiv. “So we tried to implement that and highlight this doll’s unique take on celebrating the Lunar New Year.”
